Of course, they weren’t brothers, that was just a cover for their, mm. Alternative lifestyle.
Wow, more mention of homosexuality in this show, and once again it’s negative? I’m really not sure why I’m surprised.
Fantastic. You are a virile manifestation of the divine.
Oh yes, the camp guy waiter trope, and of course the reaction is wtfery, general alienation, joking and back to manly man stuff ‘cos obviously being gay is a big fat fuckin’ joke.
Sigh.

it’s 2011, and we still get tiana saying, “oh i’m completely dedicated to my business plan OH LOOK A MALE”
Translation: people falling in love is bad and evil and wrong and if they do, they will burn n the firery pits of hell for their transgressions against society
Seriously, god forbid people fall in love like, at all. And really? if that’s what you take away from it than I feel sorry for you

hahah, i must not be speaking/typing very well because your translation is a bit off. i talked about it in my reply below this, but i DON’T think falling in love is a bad thing- i just don’t think it’s good when it becomes the focus of almost every single damn disney movie. now something like nani’s relationship in lilo and stitch? so awesome! she’s her own person who happens to have a boyfriend she loves- and there’s no clunky true love plot to deal with. but stories like this take the back burner to belle falling in love with her captor, and aurora/snow white being saved by their true loves: guys who like to go around kissing sleeping women. the last 2 examples are old and you could argue that they should be excused because of this, but disney still markets the crap out of aurora, who is to me the least interesting of all disney characters. she sleeps, she wakes up, THRILLING.
anyway, my point wasn’t about love being good/bad- it was about love being a way-too-common catalyst in disney storytelling, and almost always in a damsel-in-distress way. it bothers me, not just in the “fuck you guys i have my own damn life without finding the imaginary mr. right” kind of way, but also in the “i’m really worried about the message young kids are receiving from this” kind of way.
yeah… the critiques of this one were missing the point. The majority of people whom would agree with you, OP, are in relationships or will be in relationships/ overall, don’t disaprove of relationships in general. The problem, as you point out, and in the words of Chimananda Adichie, is “the danger of a single story.”
If we only ever are presented with a single type of story about young women protagonists- that they need to always fall in love with a guy by the end of the story in order for their stories to be successful- we risk misunderstanding women, and the role of relationships in people’s lives, as a whole.
Should be sleeping but sitting here reading BBC!Sherlock fanfics and pondering my own bias’ when it comes to writing and character creation.

This pattern — women can dress like men, but men don’t dress like women — suggests that there is, in fact, something demeaning, ridiculous, or subordinating about presenting oneself to the male gaze. Most men feel stupid, gross, or vulnerable when they do it. This isn’t just about conformity to different gendered expectations. If it were just about difference women would feel equally weird dressing in men’s clothes. Instead, when women adopt masculine ways of dressing and moving, they often feel empowered.
So, when men do femininity they feel ridiculous and when women do masculinity they feel awesome. This is what gender inequality looks like.

I sort of want to die right now.
I think I have a migraine, I actually feel physically sick with how bad my head hurts. It feels like a juicy melon slowing cracking open.
I so want to sleep but it’s only 6.30pm. HMMM.
This is me getting up in the morning and coming to work.
